How do I update MS Stream video redirect links for migrated videos?

Updated on

This guide is for instructors and staff who used U of T’s Migration Assistance service to move videos from Stream Classic to Stream on SharePoint or OneDrive. If your videos were migrated using this service, your links were automatically redirected. However, these redirect links will stop working after February 15, 2025, and must be manually updated in Quercus and other shared locations.

If you've checked your video links in Quercus Modules and Pages and found they still use the URL https://web.microsoftstream.com, you'll need to replace them with updated links from Stream on SharePoint or OneDrive.

Follow the steps in this guide to generate a new sharing link, update it in Quercus, and confirm that the link works.

Before you start

Review the steps for checking whether your links need to be updated:

  1. Find the Quercus Module or Page where you shared the video link.
  2. Hover over the link to see the URL at the bottom of your browser.
  3. Check the URL. If it starts with https://web.microsoftstream.com, it needs updating. Proceed to Generate a new sharing link for your videos.
