How can I customize my Notification settings?
Updated onArticleQuercus uses notifications to email you with updates about your courses. These span from announcements to assignment updates to discussion board posts. You will have different notification options based on your role in the course.
While you can choose when and how you receive your notifications, we recommend that you DO NOT hide or disable notifications as they are used to communicate important course and administrative information.
Why would you want to update your notification settings?
- You might want confirmation via that email an announcement has been sent. This will help ensure that you are seeing what the students see; if something is missing, you can address it (e.g. images do not send in email versions of announcements).
- When you have multiple courses, you might be receiving a lot of emails. You can use these settings to choose when and how frequently to receive them.
- You can prioritize which notifications are sent immediately and which are delayed and sent in bulk (in a digest). For example, you might want to make sure that inbox message notifications are sent in real time.

How to develop an accommodation plan
Updated onArticleThis guide provides some ideas on how to accommodate a portion of the students in your course that have an official accommodation for online/remote learning. The strategies included here aim to provide an acceptable learning experience for students, while balancing the workload for the instructor. The strategies are effective, but not overly strenuous - the most bang for your buck! Depending on your case, you might have to extend the accommodations for specific requirements; these are a suggested starting point and could be implemented in any course.
This guide is NOT a guide to developing an online course. If you're thinking about teaching entirely online, please see our guides on developing an online course.

How do I share a link to my uploaded video or audio file?
Updated onArticleThis guide contains instructions on how to copy and share the Permanent Play Link for a file uploaded to your MyMedia account.
For teaching teams: After you've uploaded an audio or video file, you will likely want to share that directly to a person or within your course (see How do I add a MyMedia video to a Quercus page? or How do I add a MyMedia video to a Quercus discussion board?).
For students: Typically, this is the link your instructor is looking for, if you've been assigned to upload a file to MyMedia as part of your course. Before you submit, confirm the specifics of your assignment with your Teaching Team (just to be sure!).

How do I use MyMedia to record my screen?
Updated onArticleMyMedia is often used to host and share video content, but it can also act as a screen-capturing/recording tool. The functionality is simple but powerful and is best used when no editing is required (as there are no built in editing tools) but you can choose to download your recording and edit it in another tool.

How can I enable downloading of MyMedia videos?
Updated onArticleThis guide contains instructions on how to enable downloading (the student can save a copy of the video) of your video content that has previously b een uploaded to MyMedia. Similar options exist for other video hosting services, too.
You might decide to provide access for students to download your video content. This can be valuable to students who might be watching videos on the go, or without wanting/needing to be connected to the Internet. For slower connections, this can allow students to download content in their off time to prepare for watching when they need to. If you are comfortable with students having a local copy of the content, it is highly recommended to enable this option to provide more flexibility in terms of accessing video content and ensuring reliable playback.

I would like to create a mandatory survey for each student group to complete. How can I do this in Quercus?
Updated onArticleAnswer: To create a mandatory survey in Quercus, you'll want to create a new Quiz (type is survey), add it to a module, and add a requirement to the module so that students cannot proceed with the course until they've submitted the survey. You could also provide motivation to complete the survey by making it graded.

How to time release assessments (using module requirements)
Updated onArticleHave you created two separate Quercus quizzes or assignments (or a combination of quiz and assignment) as part of a 2-part assessment (for a Mid Term, for example)? Do you also want to manage the release of the two parts of the assessment so that students must complete the first one before moving on to the second one?
