How do I import a course template?
Updated onArticleTo make course building easier from term to term, year to year, you can use an existing public course template or you can export one of your previous courses and import it (as an IMSCC file) into a different course shell. Before importing a course template, you should have a course template file ready to import. If you would like to download a course template (see How do I download a course template?).
Before you import a course, there are a few things that you should know:
- If you plan to reuse content from a previous course, import the template first before importing content from the old course.
- Importing the same course export package more than once will overwrite any existing content in the course. To avoid this, re-download the export file to create a new course export file before re-importing the file into your course. When you import the new file, your course will include both the content initially imported and content from the re-downloaded export file.
- If you are importing a public course template, your course will inherit some settings from the imported course template, including course visibility and content license settings. Be sure to review and change these settings accordingly, as detailed below in Review your course Visibility and Content License settings.

How do I set my own start and/or end date(s) on a course?
Updated onArticleIt might happen that, as an Instructor, you might want to provide access to a Quercus course beyond the default term settings that Quercus pulls from ROSI. You can do this by setting your own start and end dates for your course. This is used frequently to provide access to courses for deferred exams but there are a number of reasons why you might want to extend access for your students.

Create a contingency plan for your online assessment
Updated onArticleThis guide details some elements you might communicate to students in advance of an assessment, should they run into technical issues during the assessment. This could range from alternate mechanisms to submit the assessment (e.g. email) to how to communicate the issue to you (do they need to provide some proof of the issue? What would that look like?).
When delivering online assessment, it’s important to take advantage of before the assessment practices that can make the assessment go as smoothly as possible. It’s equally important to have a backup plan in case things don’t work out as anticipated during the assessment.

How do I modify the menu items on my course navigation menu?
Updated onArticleThis guide provides instructions on how to modify the default course navigation menu.
When you begin to build your course, you will need to decide which menu items will be accessible to students. It is recommended to streamline your menu - hide the items that you will not be using in your course and order them based on frequency of use (if possible).
