How do I sign up for UofT Listservs (e.g. MyMedia)?

UofT has many systems and groups that rely on listserves (email lists) to share updates, news, outages, etc. We recommend signing up for listservs based on the tools you use and your areas of interest. Listservs typically require self-sign up and annual re-subscription. You can unsubscribe at any time.

If you use MyMedia, we highly recommend that you sign up for the MyMedia Listserv as it is a primary means of communication from the team running the tool directly to you.

1. Go to https://listserv.utoronto.ca/

Go to LISTSERV home and select Manage Your Subscriptions

2. Login with your @Utoronto.ca email address

  1. Navigate to the login button in the top right corner
  2. Use your credentials to login to the listserv system
  3. You may need to use Register Password if this is your first time setting up, as it doens't use UTORauth
  4. Once successfully logged in, you'll see your email address at the top right corner and within your Subscriber's Corner dashboard

3. Search for the list you are looking to join

  1. Select Customize Report (Sometimes it appears on the right side instead of left)
  2. In Show Lists, you can fill in keywords (e.g. name of topic, name of application) if you wish. This field is optional.
  3. In the drop-down menu under Show All Lists: change the selection from "Show Subscribed Lists Only" to "Show All Lists"
  4. Select the Update button to show all lists available
  1. Your table will be updated to show all the lists
  2. Hovering over the Home icon will show a brief description of the list
  3. After you've found a list that you'd like to subscribe to, select the name of the list

If the listserv you are looking for is not listed in the Subscriber's corner, it might be unlisted. In this case you need to access Unlisted Lists:

  1. Select LISTSERV Archives
  2. Type in the list name you are looking for in the Access Unlisted Lists search box
  3. Select Search button

Note: Please note that the search feature does not support search by keywords. You will need to enter a part of the listserv name exactly as it is before @listserv.utoronto.ca.

For example, if the full listserv address is "[email protected]", type in gradsupport-l in the search bar.

4. Subscribe to the list

After selecting the list, you will be presented with the following:

  1. Access the menu by selecting the icon at the top right. (Don't worry about the red text message, and do not select login again at this point)
  2. Select Subscribe or Unsubscribe from the menu items.
  1. Text will update to indicate your status in the list
  2. Select Subscribe

5. Confirm Subscription

  1. After selecting the submit button, you will see updated text about the status.
  2. Check your email inbox for the confirmation email and click on the link to confirm your subscription
  3. You will be directed back to Listserv and receive confirmation for being added to the list.
