Accommodations often involve adjustments to when a student can access an assessment and how much time they have to complete it. Crowdmark supports two main approaches to handling these types of accommodations:
- Customizing settings for individual students: Best for situations where all students begin the assessment at the same time, but some require different time limits, due dates, or late penalties.
- Duplicating the assessment for specific students: Best for when a student needs to complete the assessment at a different time than the rest of the class (e.g., due to a scheduling conflict or formal accommodation). This allows you to set a separate release time and, for timed assessments, a different time window.
This guide focuses on the first option and covers how to apply student accommodations (such as adjusting due dates, time to complete, or lateness penalties) within an Assigned Assessment.

Before you begin
- Log in to Crowdmark
- Navigate to your Quercus course in Crowdmark
Crowdmark support (see their online support website) is provided directly by Crowdmark's support team; the EdTech Office does not have admin access to this third party tool. We've tried to consolidate some helpful support pages to respond to a question we get asked often, but, if you are having any issues, do contact [email protected] directly for individual assistance.

1. Access Crowdmark assessment

- In your Crowdmark course, select the assessment you would like to change accommodations for.
2. Access student's submission status

- Select Students option on the left-hand side navigation menu
- Search for a student in the search bar you would like to create accommodation for or find them in the student list
- Once you have located the student, under the column Status select either Viewed or Not viewed. This status notes if a student has taken any actions towards that assessment.
Setting accommodations for multiple students: To set accommodations for multiple students, Crowdmark now allows you to apply them in bulk at the individual assessment level for Assigned assessments. To learn how, refer to the step-by-step guide: Accommodation options for assigned assessments.
3. Customize due date

- Check off Customize due date under Accommodation Options
- Add a new date and time for the specific student's submission
- Select Save button to save the adjusted accommodation.
Course-Level Accommodations: If students require consistent accommodations across all assessments, you can now apply course-level accommodations, either individually or in bulk. This allows you to set custom due dates or time extensions that automatically apply to all future assessments for those students. These accommodations can be configured on a per-student basis and will be reflected in each new Assigned Assessment they receive. See the full guide: Course accommodations.
