Set up your Encoding Software

Currently, we are using a free version of Wirecast to livestream. It is one of the recommended YouTube Options.

You can download a free trial.

Before you do this, you'll want to confirm that you have the correct hardware configured.

Login to YouTube.

Login to the account that will be streaming this feed. If you have Chrome, use it.

Leave your browser open but you can minimize it.

Open Wirecast.

Open Wirecast.

These are you major areas of settings.

  1. Ensure that the proper devices are selected.

The video that will broadcast will be displayed here.

Authenticate to your preferred YouTube Account.

  1. Select on the settings gear icon.
  2. Select on the authenticate button.
  3. Select on Allow to let Wirecast access your account.
  4. After selecting Allow, you should see the account now on the settings window.

Change the Quality of Video Feed to 1080p.

  1. Expand the encoding options and select YouTube: 1080p Minimum.
  2. Select on OK to save this change.

Start the LiveStream.

  1. Once you've configured the settings, you can start the livestream by selecting on the "Stream" button.

After you've selected it, it will turn red and will show you a running clock on how long you've been connected.

 

You've set up your encoder!

At this point, you want to confirm that your are streaming to your YouTube Account.
