This guide is on how to provide the ETO with simple edit (change) instructions for a video that is ready for review on Clipchamp. Clipchamp (formerly Stream) is used by the ETO to save and share videos for internal review.
Jump to:
1. Watch the video and make note of the time stamps
As you watch the video, you may find one or more changes that need to edited. It's important to make note of the timestamps (the start time and end time) of the portion to be edited.
You can find the timestamp, either next to video control buttons on the bottom right, or as you scrub through the playhead. The image below shows the video at 4:44.
2. Add edit requests using Comments
Edit requests can be made directly in Clipchamp using the Comments feature.
Select the Comments options fmro the sidebar.
Add a "New comment." If you select the dropdown, make sure to select "Comment," not "Timeline Comment."
Begin with the timestamp, the start and end of the section to be edited (e.g. 4:44-4:54) followed by your edit request (e.g. "Remove clip").
2.1. Examples of edit requests
Here is a list of common edit requests:
- Remove: Indicates the section should be removed from the video
- Add (+ a link to new asset): If you recorded your footage, you may have reshot a clip that you would like to include. Or you have a visual asset (e.g. a photo) that you would like to show at a certain moment. If this was not already noted in the original script, we will need to know when the visual should appear.
- Add text (+ the exact text to include): If you would like to add some pop-up text (e.g. a term), we will need the exact spelling/wording and when it should appear.
- Move to (+ indicate timestamp): If there is a section that needs to be moved earlier or later in the video, indicate the start and end of that section, and the timestamp of where to move it.
Please note that while we always aim for the cleanest possible edit, some limitations can arise from recording conditions outside of anyone's control.
