How can I download a recording of a Bb Collaborate session?


As of August 31, 2021, UofT will no longer license Bb Collaborate. Please see ACT's termination of Collaborate license memo for more details. We recommend reviewing our guide of currently available webinar tools for alternate options to host synchronous online sessions.

This guide details how to download recordings of Bb Collaborate sessions by teaching staff from your Quercus course.

Before you begin

  • To download a recording of a session, you MUST to be enrolled in the course in which the session was created and recorded.
  • Bb Collaborate recordings are NOT copied from term to term when you copy your course. We recommend downloading recordings that you want to archive after each term as part of your End of Term Quercus Course Checklist.

Want to enable downloads for your students? Recordings are NOT downloadable by students by default. To enable the downloading of your recording for students (or others who have access to your Quercus course), enable this option in the Session Settings.

  1. Navigate to your course.
  2. Navigate to Bb Collaborate.
  3. Use the Hamburger settings menu to expand the option to display "Recordings."
  4. Select on the vertical tab "Recordings" to display your recordings in this course.

Are your recordings not displaying? Make sure to change the default filter "Recent Recordings" to "Recordings in a range" and set the date to when you started making recordings.

2. Find Recording and select "Download" from the Recording's Setting Menu

Recordings cannot be downloaded in bulk; you need to download each recording individually.

  1. Ensure that you've selected the appropriate filter (some recording might not be visible using the "Recent Recordings" default filter.
  2. Expand the settings menu to see options for this recording.
  3. Select "Download."

2.1. How to change the filter from "Recent" to "Recordings in a range"

If you seem to be missing recordings, it can often be because they exist outside the "recent recordings" range. You can edit this filter to capture the full length of your course and see more of your recordings.

Where should I store the recordings? Now that you've downloaded the video content, we recommend that you store it on an O365 OneDrive cloud folder (see accessing, navigating and uploading files to OneDrive online) or upload to MyMedia (see how to request a Course MyMedia account).
